Scottish Ball at Sýpka

Scottish Dances to Set Medlánky in Motion Again

The Sýpka Community Centre in Brno–Medlánky will come alive on Friday 27 March with Scottish dancing and the sound of the Great Highland bagpipes. The event is open to everyone – not only experienced dancers, but also those who would like to try an unconventional ball full of Scottish traditions.

Scottish dances are energetic and sociable, and no previous experience is required – everything will be taught on the spot by experienced instructor Mike Scott from Edinburgh. There’s no need to worry about not speaking English (or Czech) – the entire evening will be interpreted.

Live music will be provided by the band Alastair, the only group in the Czech Republic that has long been dedicated to the traditional Scottish dance repertoire. Members of the band Scotch Dog Pipes and Drums and their guests will play the bagpipes. There will also be a dance performance, and the Brno Whisky Shop will once again offer a wide selection of Scottish single malt whisky.

Kilts are very welcome, but certainly not required.

The Scottish adventure begins at 7 PM. You can find all the details at www.skotskypes.cz. Everyone is warmly invited.
